GUUUYYYSSS, Fiction No Chaser tagged me in the Song Requests challenge and I’m so excited for this. I already add theme songs to all my book reviews and I create bookish playlists, because I am also that nerd who hears a song and thinks “OMG this is so [Insert Character Name Here]”. This is Marjorie singing to Merry in A Head Full of Ghosts. This book is so sick and twisted and it matched the vibes of this song so well.

This song will forever remind me of the Shadowhunter world.

Even though it’s not my favorite series, I do enjoy the heists and cons in the Six of Crows duology, and this song is definitely a MOOD for both books.

Fiction Files Friday| Welcome To…The Fiction Files

The News

So, Loretta (@LaughingListener) and I have some exciting news! We created a new brand – The Fiction Files. It all started when we jokingly began sending each other fake profile blurbs for our favorite characters one night and were digitally rolling on the floor laughing together. We had an epiphany moment where we both (on different sides of the country) stared into the darkness and a lightbulb turned on – “what if other people might get a kick out of them too.” Thus, the idea for Fiction Files was born.

If you’re into things like, let’s say, fictional character Tinder accounts, Spotify playlists, and generally anything a character would have or do if they were actually real people (like we just assume they are) come join us! We’ll be on our blogs every Friday with news, but you can follow our pages – links are below.

We hope you have as much fun with our content as we have creating it. We’re obviously too invested in our book boyfriends and it shows, but hey – we’re owning it.

Ronan Lynch | A Raven Cycle Playlist

Here’s another playlist for all my Raven Boys fans. Ronan Lynch quickly became the love of my life and my favorite Raven Boy. He’s blunt, salty, and doesn’t give a FUUU about anything. The only thing I regret about this playlist is that there is no Murder Squash song to add to it! Outside of crazy Irish music, we can find him blasting techno/electronic music, and that’s where my Inso came from. See said snippet from The Raven King…even the trees can’t get enough of his beats.

Here are a few of my faves and some lyric highlights! A lot of these are lowkey PYNCH song because I am totally on board with that ship. And, Ronan would totally have a playlist on his MP3 player dedicated to music reminding him of Adam.

This pretty much sums of Ronan. Everything self-destructive thing he does is to make him feel something other than dead inside. I mean, I’d probably be messed up too if I knew secrets about my deceased parent that I couldn’t share with anyone. What does it say that he’s still my favorite after everything?

He’s a greywaren and can take things from his dreams…need I say more?

Today’s topic is all about worlds I’d want to live in! I’m so excited to take everyone on a trip through my favorite fictional places.

The Los Angeles Shadowhunter Institute

It’s no secret that I LOVE anything Cassie Clare writes. While my love started with The Mortal Instruments, I have a soft spot for The Los Angeles Institute – the setting for some of The Dark Artifices. I’m an LA girl and can’t help but imagine all my favorite places in the city as magical (or Julian and Emma sitting in traffic next to me). Can anyone else imagine taking a trip to the beach in Santa Monica and seeing some demon-slaying, half-angel warriors sunbathing next to you or riding magical, flying faerie horses? Because I CAN.

The fictional town where The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater takes place. There are psychics, magical forests, Welsh kings, bee-like demons, and, of course, Aglionby Boys. Who wouldn’t want to live in a world where you can literally make your dreams a reality.

Hogwarts

How can I not add Hogwarts to my list? Fantastic beasts, magical sweets, flying cars, and spells that can clean my house! Everything about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter calls to me. But can we petition to get JK Rowling to allows dogs as pets?

Velaris

I just want to live in the City of Starlight, where everything smells like fresh air and jasmine and I’m surrounded by mountains and rivers and all the magical faerie things. Seriously, I even have a tattoo because I am obsessed with all things A Court of Thorns and Roses and Sarah J Mass.

Hobbiton, The Shire

I’m already the size of a hobbit, so why wouldn’t I want to spend my time wandering rolling greens hills, eating and drinking all day? Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevenses, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Dinner, Supper…I want them all! Let’s not forget about being besties with Gandalf!

Richard Gansey III | A Raven Cycle Playlist

If you haven’t read The Raven Cycle series you should drop what you’re doing and start now. Maggie Stiefvater shares so many fun, little details about her world and characters and it was so easy to fall head over heels with all the Aglionby Boys and their rich-boy problems. It’s why I had so much fun making playlists for all of them!

Gansey’s was one of the easier ones to make. He’s the leader of the crew, with an old soul, a wandering spirit, and a desire to help his friends. He reminds me of a less intense version of Indiana Jones, who thinks everything belongs in a museum, has trouble sleeping, and enjoys listening to oldies.

Gansey always talks about never wanting to stay too long in one place. He likes to travel and wander the world looking for hidden things and magical kings.

If this isn’t a Blue & Gansey song, I don’t know what is. She can’t kiss her true love or else he dies…he thinks he’s her true love…she thinks he’s her true love…we all think they’re each other’s true love! Thus, no further explanation is needed.

Stand By Me, Ben E. King

All he wants is for his friends to love him as fiercely as he loves them. To stick around when things get tough and to do things together. Everyone just needs to find themselves a Gansey, boat shoes and all.
